As a Manager, Clinical Informatics with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Play a key leadership role in collaborating with senior leadership, clinical leaders, program managers, physicians and staff across their designated CoC (Community of Care) to lead and promote the transformation of complex, health authority-wide clinical systems change and the overall translation of clinical data across the continuum of care.
  • Serve as the lead strategic liaison between IMIT, acute and/or community sites/specialties, Professional Practice, Decision Support and other key stakeholders within their CoC and VCH and within the designated area of responsibility in relation to Clinical Information Systems.
  • Interface with Clinical System Transformation (CST) governance to represent their site(s)/CoC, and lead the Clinical Informatics team at the CoC to chiefly support CERNER after implementation and maintain the system as applicable.
  • Lead and inform major, complex and/or regional initiatives, the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that result in the automation and/or enhancement of evidence-based practice, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation via Clinical Information Systems (CIS), namely CERNER.
  • Work to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of clinical initiatives that assist in the successful transitioning to a fully integrated electronic health record (EHR) throughout VCH programs and services.
  • Be responsible for the design, implementation and sustainment of VCH's community systems, including PARIS, Profile EMR, Cerner and others.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Health Sciences Profession.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Health Administration or Health Informatics.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a health care environment, including extensive experience leading the integration of computer technologies in clinical practice, regional policy and practice development and in establishing integrated clinical/systems environment through clinical change management methodologies, and clinical data architecture across the care continuum.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, facilitate and lead others, and to foster a respectful and motivating environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills with a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to clinical data architecture, data integrity, and translation of data across care sectors and services resulting in a fully integrated electronic health record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of new trends in clinical practice and information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective problem solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with technical, operational and vendor representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate in a team setting, as well as effectively work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to be change oriented and possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work with minimal direct supervision, and have the ability to organize and prioritize workload and projects in a self-directed manner.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
