Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Mental Health & Addicitons Initiatives Coordinator to join the Mental Health Rehabilitation Housing Team in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Mental Health & Addictions Initiatives Coordinator you will:

  • Engage staff in clinical and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and evaluate processes, make recommendations and facilitate changes in support of identified strategic directions and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives including standards of care, staff education and facilitating the family advisory group, using agreed-upon best practice quality improvement measures, guidelines and protocols.
  • Primary partnerships are with mental health and addiction managers, coordinators, clinical resource team members, physician leads, organizational quality council, and family advisory groups.
  • Represent the program team at various meetings both internal and external to VCH including presenting quality improvement results at professional meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree in a applicable health science and three years’ recent, related experience in mental health and addiction education.
  • Experience with facilitating change, group process and team building, and quality improvement initiatives or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for registration in applicable governing body.
  • Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

  • Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community.

  • Utilizes initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement program plans and initiatives.
  • Displays ability to understand and analyze complex information and identify process change potential to improve resource utilization.
  • Displays leadership skills to coordinate resources, advance priorities and promote collaboration and commitment of key stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care disciplines and their role in mental health and addiction procedures/processes.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical practice that includes comprehensive and coordinated care for mental health and addiction, using agreed upon best practice quality improvement measures, guidelines and protocols.
  • Broad knowledge of research methodology and processes, including analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, leader, and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and clients and their families, either one-on-one and in-groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative practice change environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database skills.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
