Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Worker to join the Adult Day Centre team at West Vancouver Community Health Centre.  Apply today to join our team!

As an Program Worker at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Work in cooperation with multi-disciplinary team members to carry out established recreation and activity programs.
  • Organize activities and demonstrate and teach activity techniques.
  • Report relevant observations of member progress and behaviours to the Therapist and/or other healthcare staff.
  • Provide direction to volunteers, organize equipment and supplies for activities and ensure a safe work environment and maintain an established inventory of supplies.



The Adult Day Program provides a range of health, personal, social and therapeutic recreation services and activities in a safe and caring environment. It is a supportive community program for seniors and people with varying abilities to help them remain at home and provides respite for caregivers.



Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.

  • Completion of an Activity Assistant recreation program or activity courses that includes assessment and program planning components for a variety of activities plus two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Current First Aid and CPR.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of the team.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to communicate with seniors and frail elderly adults.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in members.
  • Ability to instruct.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to do, various arts, crafts, sports and leisure activities.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
