As an Occupational Therapist, Supervisor, with VCH you will:

  • Coordinate the designated program by supervising at least one other occupational therapist and a total staff of up to three (3) FTEs.
  • Establish program priorities, coordinates work assignments, monitor and evaluate designated program outcomes, provide leadership, and clarify practice expectations with staff.
  • Act as a clinical resource for members of the team and students by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, provide direct assessment and intervention to resident and maintains resident’s records.
  • Coordinate on-going team planning, evaluation and quality improvement activities and participates in approved research, where applicable.
  • Participate in and/or leads internal and external committees, meetings and/or corporate initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration as an occupational therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Three (3) years’ recent related clinical occupational therapy experience including one (1) year experience in a supervisory/leadership role in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to long term care
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a resident centred model of care
  • Broad knowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BCstandards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners
  • Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, direction, and clinical guidance to others in a team-based environment.
  • General of knowledge Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a risk management approach and ethical decision-making principles to complex health situations.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of adult learning and group dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching/training skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prescribe and/or recommend a variety of rehabilitation equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work independently and to use a cooperative approach to program delivery.
  • Ability to deal with others tactfully, effectively, and respectfully.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
