Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Adult Protection Compliance Advisor to join the ReACT Adult Protection Program. Apply today to join our team!  

 

As an Adult Protection Compliance Advisor with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible and accountable for providing leadership in the management of clinical and operational risk concerning patient care quality complaints and statutory compliance.
  • Represent Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) when working with legal counsel and other external agencies when investigating and managing reports involving patients/clients and identifying and resolving other risk management issues specifically related to statutory compliance.
  • Supervise members of the ReAct team and assigned administrative staff, as required.
  • Collaborate with regional Client Relations and Risk Management Adult Protection Leads (APL) and Designated Responders/Coordinators (DR/DRC) by working to ensure overall consistency and standardization of processes and systems pertaining to ReAct. Client Relations, Risk Management and statutory compliance.
  • Provide leadership and support to senior VCH leaders, physicians and staff in ensuring that quality improvement strategies and processes are applied to the management of client relations, risk management and statutory compliance issues.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Health Administration or related discipline.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent, related experience in progressively senior leadership roles leading client relations, statutory compliance and other risk and issues management activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Effectively and proactively coordinates strategies, systems, and processes to reduce risk, minimize and manage client complaints and support statutory compliance, and collaborates with others to improve quality, safety, and statutory compliance for VCH.
  • Expertly applies technical and analytical expertise to assess and support risk and situation management activities, and to establish and implement risk management and quality improvement strategies to support the organization.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to assist leaders, staff and complainants to resolve complaints.
  • Applies superior judgment and political expertise to communicate sensitive information, and effectively persuade and negotiate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expertly interprets and implements legal and other regulatory obligations and responsibilities of VCH in the context of relevant legislation, regulations, common law and other changing standards.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

 

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
