Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Regional Physiotherapy team as a Clinical Resource Therapist focused in Community, Seniors, and Long Term Care. Apply today to join our team!


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. As a Clinical Resource Therapist with VCH you will:

  • Act as the Clinical Resource Therapist specializing in interventions related to community, seniors health, and long term care (LTC) populations from a physiotherapy perspective.
  • Provide consultation and clinical guidance for PTs working with this population across the health authority; analyse literature and trends, develop decision support tools and recommend changes to modify/change and advance current clinical practices within Physiotherapy.
  • Initiate and participate in knowledge translation activities and facilitate an evidence based culture and community of practice.


Education & Experience

  • Degree in Physiotherapy, supplemented with a Masters’ degree in Rehabilitation Science, Health Care Management/Leadership or Education, plus five (5) years' recent, related experience as an advanced practitioner and/or clinical instructor in interventions related to seniors health populations, including 2 years working in community or long term care areas, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Licensed with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia. Suggested membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the PT Association of BC.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy theory, and practice within a client and family centred model.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based physiotherapy practice related to specialty clinical area
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards and guidelines established by the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislation as pertaining to physiotherapy practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable VCH clinical practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of teaching/guiding/coaching approaches and strategies to include tele-health and on-line mediums.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of knowledge translation process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability in evidence based practices and ability to demonstrate, teach, orient and/or train
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, mentor, coach and facilitator
  • Knowledge of documentation practices in the community and long term care.
  • Knowledge of Team Based Care and Reablement strategies.
  • Knowledge of Primary Care practices and competencies .
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unanticipated events.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide others in practice changes and updates.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and implement new projects.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Computer literacy to lead technology based practice education and support
  • Valid Driver's License and access to personal car may be required.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. .
