Job Summary

Come work as a Regional Physiotherapist Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Relocation Assistance may be available. 

 

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the team working at Richmond Hospital working as a Educator. This Educator position is specifically for Richmond Hospital’s Physiotherapy Department and will report to the Program Manager (Acute Allied Health Services).

 

You will play an active role in the development of operational service delivery models and supporting access and flow to maintain knowledge of current developments and contribute to the improvement of services. You will lead the orientation and training of physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants and guide staff through the use of new procedures and equipment.

As a Physiotherapist Educator with VCH, you will:

  • Work in a team based environment and is charged with providing discipline specific education and expertise across the health authority.
  • Provide clinical and educational support to designated staff within Vancouver Coastal Health a majority of the time.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate educational programs, including for new graduates and other staff including employed students.
  • Provide training in practice including modifying techniques and equipment, assisting with the development and roll out of new clinical practices and providing staff with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices.
  • Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers regarding clinical concerns or requirements to gather information for ongoing improvement of client care.
  • Provide training in Physiotherapy practices including leading knowledge transfer of best practice evidence, modifying techniques, assisting with the development of new clinical practices and providing staff with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices.
  • Gather information for ongoing improvement and demonstrates expertise and leadership of physiotherapy services.
  • Maintain and update own knowledge of clinical and professional practice, including hands-on clinical competencies by working directly with patients, clients, residents.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Five (5) years' recent, related broad physiotherapy experience in a variety of practice areas.
  • Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.
  • Experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities, and experience mentoring students, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC).
  • Suggested membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Physiotherapy Association of BC.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License as local area travel within the VCH geographical region requires the use of a vehicle.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, legislation, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of the established provincial standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Broad knowledge of education theory.
  • Broad knowledge of tele-health and technology based learning.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and construct effective and dynamic education modules.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, facilitate and teach.
  • Demonstrated ability in education strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, patients and their circle of care, and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Computer literacy related to tele-health and technology-based learning; and with spreadsheet and database skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
