Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Clerk/Transcriptionist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Program Clerk/Transcriptionist you will:

  • To provide office support for the Richmond Mental Health Team.
  • Word process a variety of documents, transcribe documents using an electronic Dictaphone System, and edit and proofread documents for accuracy, stylistic consistency, format, punctuation and grammar.
  • Check staff travel expense claims and sessional dates/times on physician’s sessional billings.
  • Maintain client charts such as creating physical charts, pulling charts and filing documents.
  • Distribute client laboratory reports to staff or physicians.
  • Process the Mental Health Team’s mail, and attend and participate in meetings.
  • Act as a receptionist as required, and perform a variety of clerical duties such as: maintaining levels of stationary supplies and monitoring equipment, maintaining client databases and compiling statistics.
  • Participate in on going team planning and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 supplemented with an approved Medical Office Assistant/Medical Transcriptionist program and one (1) year’s recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to compose business correspondence.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to perform relevant calculations.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate computerized patient care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
