Reporting to the Regional Director, the Facilitator is responsible for advancing anti-racism learning initiatives within Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). This role involves developing and implementing anti-racism training programs that aligns with VCH’s values, pillars and strategic goals, enhancing the organization’s capacity to deliver health services in an inclusive and culturally safe manner.

The Facilitator will work closely with the Anti-Racism team and other internal partners to ensure training materials are relevant, evidence-based, and tailored to diverse audiences. The Facilitator’s primary focus is on creating and delivering interactive sessions that foster reflection, dialogue, and skill-building among participants. Additionally, this role will support the evaluation and continual refinement of training programs to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with current best practices in anti-racism.

As a Facilitator, Anti-Racism with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

• Develop guidelines, curriculum, educational tools, and instruments in partnership with the Anti-Racism team to achieve and maintain inclusive practices throughout health services.

   

• Work collaboratively with VCH departments such as Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), People Wellness, Psychological Health and Safety, Respectful Workplace, Indigenous Health, as well as external community partners, to advance anti-racism learning goals.

   

• Provide organization-wide and program-specific training supporting trauma-informed practices in delivering services to equity-seeking groups.

   

• Facilitate interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars on anti-racism, promote engagement, reflection, and skill-building.

   

• Support anti-racism leaders in evaluating training effectiveness and adapting programs based on feedback and emerging needs.

   

• Develop and maintain a database to capture data and evaluation information, report findings to the Regional Director.

   

• Collaborate with colleagues across health authorities, government partners, and anti-racism community partners.

   

• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements, immediately report unsafe situations.

   

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Adult Learning or a related discipline.
• Three (3) years’ recent, related experience in counselling, coaching, mentoring, training, conflict resolution and provision of facilitation and training.
• These experiences will include the ability to apply a trauma-informed approach to learning and development.

• In depth knowledge and understanding of diversity, inclusion and anti-racism issues in BC and Canada
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated highly specialized skills in assessing and managing conflict in often intercultural, emotionally charged, and complex learning environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive and mutually beneficial intercultural relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, problem solve, and utilize team building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, work independently and collaboratively in a work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with intercultural and intersectional issues sensitively.
• Demonstrated ability to design education material and lesson plans.
• Ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively. Requires strong analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and mentor all levels of care providers.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Proven ability to work well under pressure, either related to deadlines or unforeseen circumstances.
• Ability to operate related equipment, including computer hardware and software.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
