Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an E-commerce & Retail Gift Shop Manager to join the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) Gift Shop staff and volunteer team in supporting both our e-commerce and in-person stores. As an E-commerce & Retail Gift Shop Manager with VCH, your responsibilities will include both managing the VGH Gift Shop website and assisting in the management of the gift shop’s in-person retail operations. E-commerce responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the cost effective and profitable operation of the VGH Gift Shop Website, hosted on Shopify, to maximize donations to vital hospital programs
  • Using marketing expertise, creative vision, and a collaborative approach, the E-commerce Gift Shop Manager ensures that the online gift shop stays current and relevant, while meeting and exceeding the diverse needs and expectations of our customers
  • Setting website goals, and planning and executing online strategies in order to achieve business objectives
  • Managing product onboarding, content strategy, SEO strategy, and user experience
  • Analyzing and reporting on sales, customer behaviour, and market trends; using this information to make strategic decisions.

Retail responsibilities:

  • Partner with another Gift Shop Manager to be responsible for the cost effective and profitable operation of the VGH Gift Shop’s brick-and-mortar store
  • Supervising, supporting, and performance managing a team of volunteers who staff the gift shop, by answering questions, covering vacant shifts when needed, and ensuring volunteer tasks are completed properly
  • Providing and ensuring outstanding customer service and efficient order fulfillment, and driving demand, conversion, engagement, and retention
  • Assisting with receiving, inventory management and organization, and store merchandizing.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Business or Marketing Management.
  • Three to five years’ recent, related retail management experience as well as experience in merchandising, marketing and advertising or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and initiate marketing campaigns and strategies, utilizing all available marketing mediums and ensuring effective merchandising.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage contracts and relationships with external vendors such as credit cards, Interac and florists.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current retail trends.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, motivational, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and foster collaborative, respectful relationships with staff/volunteers while providing direction, guidance and feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
