Come work as a Medical Office Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Medical Office Assistant to join the team at the new Richmond Urgent & Primary Care Centre (UPCC) opening in April 2021. Apply today to join our team!

As a Medical Office Assistant with Vancouer Coastal Health you will perform registration and clerical support functions for the Primary Care Clinic which sees patients and families who require high priority care within 24 hours. You will work in support of the Vancouver Community of Care (CoC) service delivery model, primary care network, and in accordance with VCH policies and procedures.

ABOUT URGENT AND PRIMARY CARE CENTRES

Urgent and Primary Care Centres (UPCC) will provide care for people with unexpected, non-life-threatening conditions who need medical attention within 12-24 hours but who don't require a visit to the emergency department – this includes sprains, cuts and wounds, an infection, mild asthma attack and less serious child illness and injury. The multidisciplinary health care team will be staffed by general practitioners, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and social workers.

UPCCs are intended to be an additional service in the community, working in concert with all touch points for care to provide appropriate urgent services to patients, when and where they need it.

For the community of Richmond, the opening of an Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) has been a dream for quite some time. As of April 1st, thanks to great partnerships in our community — with the Richmond Division of Family Practice and other key stakeholders — that dream is becoming reality.

Richmond's first UPCC opens its doors in its interim location at the Community Health Access Centre on Alderbridge Way and will provide non-life threatening, urgent care to Richmond residents.
The centre will have a multidisciplinary team of family physicians, registered nurses and medical office assistants to help patients access urgent care services in evenings and weekends, as well as connect patients with mental health and social work services in the community.

Working in conjunction with family physicians and care providers, the UPCC will be an additional service in the community, working in concert with all touch points for care to provide appropriate urgent primary care services to patients, when and where they need it.
