As a Manager in this role with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be a strategic leader and be responsible for developing and leading educational programs focused on managing team conflict and fostering a respectful workplace.
  • Ensure the development of education and transformation programs and act as an expert resource to navigate and facilitate conflict management initiatives across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
  • Take a proactive approach in creating and facilitating educational frameworks and resources to lead initiatives for operational teams across the organization.
  • Establish structured processes for developing, maintaining, and evaluating conflict management and respectful workplace educational programming and resources, leveraging technology solutions and software applications to promote and communicate relevant education, learning technologies, and competency resource development.
  • Be accountable to lead the planning, design, and organization of education resources, learning technologies, and transformation strategies for the portfolio. This role provides oversight, leadership, and supervision of the team planning, coordinating, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of education programs and ongoing quality improvement deliverables.
  • Work closely with other organizational teams to understand the nature of team conflict and to create pathways forward, proactively assisting teams to create structures for healthy conflict, growth, development and function and to leave teams with skills to continue to manage conflict proactively and positively.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as Conflict Studies, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or Community Development.
  • Five (5) years’ recent, related experience in conflict assessment and facilitation, team development and engagement, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
  • Clinical experience in healthcare, such as Nursing or Social Work considered an asset, as well as experience working in a corporate setting in a similar capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse and intercultural teams considered an asset.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Relevant training and/or designations in fields of practice such as Human Systems Dynamics, and eligibility for registration with Mediate BC would be considered assets.
  • Recent experience working with large organizations to support teams in conflict
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups, including those who experience intersectional barriers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives, provide management consultations to design inspiring and engaging educational programs, workshops, and seminars in complex work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to present education to small groups as well as on-line.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and inspire team members/others to set and achieve realistic and measurable goals that are in keeping with the vision, values and strategies of the organization.
  • Applies team development and project management methodologies in the design, development and implementation of various programs, frameworks, and tools.
  • Applies expert understanding of team function assessment, team development and conflict resolution modalities and approaches, including best practices, and applies expert judgment in selecting appropriate approaches for various situations (ie: understands that it’s not a one size fits all approach to team conflict resolution)
  • Demonstrates strong communication and facilitation skills and the ability to influence adoption of recommended approaches.
  • Maintains current knowledge of new developments, trends and research in team development and conflict resolution, and recommends and implements best practices accordingly.
  • Applies superior judgment and political expertise to communicate sensitive information to, and collaborate with, a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fosters creativity, innovation, and critical systems thinking and problem resolution in strategic planning involving team and leadership healing, growth and development.
  • Applies an understanding of anti-oppression analysis and inclusion principles to team dynamics.
