Job Summary

Come work as a Data & Analytics Advisor, Presentation Designer & Data Storyteller with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Reporting to the Director, Health Analytics, the Presentation Designer & Data Storyteller will leverage an understanding of data analysis and design principles to conduct analysis, develop presentations and infographics, and tell visual stories with data. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of analytical, design, and storytelling skills; ensuring that data and information is delivered to health care leaders in an engaging and meaningful way. This role supports Data & Analytics leadership with communication and engagement strategies from a visual presentation perspective, for audiences at all levels of the organization including to the Board and Senior Executive Team of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). As a Data & Analytics Advisor, Presentation Designer & Data Storyteller with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Conduct analysis, interpret results, and summarize findings with a data storytelling approach.
  • Translate complex findings and analytical outputs into simple, compelling narratives that resonate with a variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Lead the development of PowerPoint presentations, data communication materials, and infographics.
  • Manipulate data and apply visualization best-practices to create graphs and other visuals for data storytelling.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in analytics, business analytics, data visualization, data science, information design, data communications, or relevant discipline.
  • One (1) or more years of recent, related experience including health care, analytics, and communications or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Proven experience in creating presentation decks, infographics, and related materials for a large organization, adhering to its branding guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop tailored communications and materials for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Creativity and ability to apply best practices in data visualization and design to create visually-appealing graphics that bring data to life.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to conduct data analysis in Excel/Tableau (SQL/Python preferred) and manipulate data to create graphs and visualizations.
  • Proficient in interpreting, and synthesizing data from multiple sources to create a compelling data story that drives action and decision making.
  • Ability to prioritize and set boundaries to manage workload and organize multiple competing projects.
  • Maintain rigorous quality standards while working under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
