Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Care Aide to join the Cedar Gardens team in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Care Aide working in Assisted Living with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Assist clients with the activities of daily living to promote maximum independence.
  • Observe and document on client’s health condition and environment, report significant and unsafe conditions and provide support and guidance to clients.
  • Support clients in a way that reflects the guiding principles of Assisted Living - choice, privacy, independence, individuality, dignity and respect.
  • Promote tenant’s self-direction and personal decision-making.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.
  • Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program plus one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful completion of a medication management module for community health workers/long term care aides from an accredited educational institution will be required prior to commencing work.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and First Aid and Food Safe Certificate.

  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.  Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
