The Opportunity


We now have the opportunity for a Director, Mental Health and Addiction Services (Ambulatory Services LGH site) to join the team within the Coastal Community of Care (CoC) at VCH. Reporting directly to the COO, Coastal Community of Care, the Director will lead the mental health function across urban, rural, and remote communities in this portfolio. The Director is accountable for the overall operational management and strategic direction for designated clinical areas. The Director works as team player with colleagues and co-workers in identifying service delivery models and processes the promote the integration of services across the continuum, supporting healthier lives and addressing the needs of the community, while maintaining system sustainability. 


The ideal candidate brings leadership experience from a mental health portfolio within a complex healthcare organization. Also important is an understanding of a trauma-informed perspective and demonstrated inpatient medical knowledge. Having a mindset of intentionally transitioning patients to the most appropriate care settings and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders will be key.  A Masters degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or related masters degree, with more than ten (10) years’ recent, related experience in a progressively more senior management/leadership role within a large health care setting, including direct supervisory experience is required. A forward thinker, the ideal candidate demonstrates competencies which value respect, performance excellence, and the courage to innovate.
