Come work as a Transplant Hepatologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Liver Transplant Program at the Vancouver General Hospital is accepting applications for a part-time Transplant Hepatologist.  This position would be suitable for a physician with training in internal medicine or gastroenterology who is already in practice and wishes to expand their practice in a role of a Transplant Hepatologist.

The Vancouver General Hospital is the only center providing liver transplant services in British Columbia, performing over 100 transplants annually.  The successful candidate will provide service to patients referred for liver transplantation, as well as those who have received a liver transplant.  Additionally, the candidate will provide consultative services in hepatology to patients admitted at the Vancouver General Hospital.

The position does not include endoscopy privileges and no training in endoscopy is required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will participate in the inpatient and on-call liver transplant service at an approximate ratio of one every four weeks, attend weekly transplant rounds meetings and provide coverage in outpatient clinics.  It is also expected that the successful candidate will provide teaching to trainees at different levels and participate in the research activities of the transplant program.

We are particularly interested in a candidate with experience in Living Donor Liver Transplantation, management of metabolic disorders and with connections to different Health Authorities (Northern, Fraser, Island or Interior) that could help with implementation of satellite clinics.  Experience or interests in leadership, medical administration or teaching will be considered an asset.

Qualified individuals who meet the specified criteria are encouraged to apply for this position.  If you are interested in joining our team and contributing to the liver transplant services in British Columbia, please submit your application. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a letter describing scholarly and professional interests and plans, and the name and contact of three physicians who could provide references.

The position is scheduled to start in October 1, 2024 and the closing date for application is May 31, 2024.
