Come work as a CardioOncology Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) Divisions of Cardiology invite applications from outstanding Cardiologists with expertise in CardioOncology for a full-time position. This position is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) in conjunction with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospitals.

The VCH Division of Cardiology has a growing clinical and academic CardioOncology program with catchment from throughout British Columbia. The program requires another full-time recruit to support its activities and further expansion. Candidates with an additional focused interest in Heart Failure and General Cardiology will be considered more favorably.

The Division has a strong interest in advancing Indigenous Health and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).  We are committed to actioning the recommendations emerging from the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, especially the gaps in health outcomes for Indigenous populations and low numbers of Indigenous persons working in the field of cardiology.  Academic or health system skills are also desirable to enhance the VGH and SPH divisions, including novel specialized skills such as Medical Education, Quality Improvement/Assurance and Systems Management, Bioethics, Health Policy, Quality Metrics, and Clinical Innovation.

The Divisions operate an academic practice plan, which the successful candidate is expected to contribute to, and be eligible to receive a supplementary stipend for exceptional academic contribution.

The successful candidate will have a thriving Cardiology outpatient practice along with in-patient hospital consultative service, hospital clinics, and access to electrodiagnostic resources.

Applicants must possess FRCPC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology or their equivalents and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.  Candidates should possess effective communication skills, demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels, and possess exceptional work ethics and collegiality. The successful candidate may also be involved in the conduct of clinical research studies, and/or relevant quality assurance projects.

This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Divisions of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.

The Divisions of Cardiology hire on the basis of merit and are strongly committed to equity and diversity within their community.  We especially welcome applications from Indigenous persons, visible minority group members, women, persons with disabilities, persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities, and others with the skills and knowledge to productively engage with diverse communities.  Canadian and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
