Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse, working as a Clinical Educator, Regional Program to join the team at Vancouver General Hospital and supporting additional VCH sites. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Clinical Educator, Regional Program with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Provide education services including individual and group learning assessments and opportunities.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate education programs and resources using education theory and knowledge of generalized and specialized clinical practice as well as teaching and learning principles and processes.
  • Consult, confer and collaborate with other educators and team members in promotion of continuous quality improvement, resolution of clinical education issues and coordination of activities required for progressive educational programs in the context of workplace learning.
  • Perform duties including preparing and facilitating interactive learning sessions associated with Regional Orientation, and/or observing, supporting and guiding Employed Student Nurses (ESN’s), Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN's) and new graduates in clinical settings, and acting as a resource for new graduates and other designated groups as required.

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Five (5) years’ recent, related emergency or critical care nursing experience including one year's related teaching experience as well as experience mentoring and preceptoring, facilitating group processes and team building, and experience in orientation/education program design, development, implementation and evaluation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of ‘Educator Pathway Program Level 2’ required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Adult Education preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license to operate a vehicle in B.C. as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle which will be outlined in the posting.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of nursing science theory, and practice within a patient/family centred care model.
  • Broad knowledge of educational theory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BCCNM standards for nursing practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practice related to ESN’s and new grad nursing.
  • Broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
  • Broad knowledge of research methodology and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, leader, facilitator, mentor and preceptor.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, with ESNs, new grads, other members of the interdisciplinary team, patient and families, either one-on-one and in-groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex learning situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, collaborate, and consult with others in an effective and respectful way.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations and guide others in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and databases.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
