Job Summary

Come work as a Public Affairs Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).

 

The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Public Affairs team is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to help make a meaningful difference in the health and wellness of the region’s residents, families, and communities.

 

As a Public Affairs Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for supporting partner relations, event management, and media relations for an organization that provides care to more than 1.25 million British Columbians.
  • Be a team player, eager to pitch-in and learn, as well as keen to supercharge the development of their skillset in a fast-paced, dynamic, and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Leader, External Relations to facilitate partner and community relations, including liaising with civic and community partners as well as supporting the development and distribution of strategic communications to these critical audiences.
  • Work closely with the broader Public Affairs and Corporate Communications teams to assist with the development and execution of key external and internal events for VCH.
  • Support the VCH Public Affairs team with event management, media relations and issues management activities, as required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in public relations, media, communications, and/or marketing roles, either agency-based or in-house, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strong writing, editing, grammar and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of political landscape and understanding of civic operations.
  • Ability to craft, prepare, and execute writing assignments (project narratives, briefing materials, other communications) under deadlines.
  • Works cohesively as a member of a broader communications team, pitches in to help others, forward-thinking go-getter; ability to adapt in dynamic settings.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact, and diplomacy and to act with a high degree of ethical and professional behaviour.
  • Good organizational, project management and time management skills including the ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
