Eligibility for the post-basic training education is restricted to applicants with a minimum of 2 years recent acute medical/surgical experience.

 

BCIT High Acuity Nursing Specialty Program

Online Prerequisites (if required):  September 3, 2024 - November 22, 2024 

BCIT Workshop Day: October 17, 2024 

Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations:  January 20, 2025 - March 12, 2025 

 

Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.

 

Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.

 

This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. In the event that a candidate leaves the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they were hired or VCH in under 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program.

Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the team in Interventional Radiology at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Registered Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Perform nursing functions associated with interventional radiology, computed tomography and other medical imaging procedures to patients of all ages who may be critically ill and/or attached to life-support equipment, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist the physician during the procedure and performs direct nursing care as appropriate to ensure the comfort and safety of patients undergoing procedures.
  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family.
  • Prepare for and respond to fluctuating workloads, unexpected critical situations and the requirement to be on-call as required.
  • Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers as well as with other members of the Medical Imaging team.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and best practice approach in nursing practice.
  • Maintain and advances own clinical competence.
  • Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research as assigned.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
