As a Medical Affairs Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Provide confidential credentialing and privileging support for VCH Medical Affairs.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all physician demographic and privileging information.
  • Interface with senior management staff and physicians in the course of performing duties including assisting with handling confidential complaints from medical staff members, responding to inquiries from medical staff regarding credentialing and privileging processes and procedures as well as connecting medical staff to the appropriate contacts.
  • Focus primarily on coordination, monitoring and support of the VCH credentialing and privileging processes.
  • Be responsible for maintaining related databases ensuring information is available throughout Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Primary working relationships are with VCH Physician Relations, Community of Care (CoC) Medical Affairs offices and senior leadership team members.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized administrative assistant/secretarial post-secondary program.
  • Three (3) years’ of senior administrative support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have advanced word-processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software skills.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • A sound knowledge of physician credentialing and privileging processes
  • Demonstrated customer-focused approach
  • Exercises considerable judgment, tact and discretion and preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with VCH staff at all levels as well as with external agencies and physicians.
  • Superior computer and technical skills are essential.
  • Ability to influence change and handle conflict.
  • Works well independently and is self-directed.
  • Communicates in a compelling, professional, clear and understandable manner (both verbally and in writing) in order to represent the team’s interests with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Applies excellent time management skills to prioritize and complete assignments in a manner that optimizes departmental effectiveness and contributes to organizational success.
  • Ability to organize high volume workload and set priorities.
  • Independent and effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Practices care and thoroughness when maintaining, monitoring, calculating and summarizing data and other information.
  • Collaborates with peers to ensure administrative systems and processes are consistently followed and monitored for effectiveness and that gaps are addressed and resolved when identified.
  • Employs expertise in the use of current computer applications to create a variety of documents and presentations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
