Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Community Safety Alert and Attendant Manager to join the Safety and Prevention team. Apply today to join our team!  

 

As a Community Safety Alert and Attendant Manager with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for overseeing the community relational safety program and managing a team of Community Support Attendants, as well as the VCH community alert application.
  • Lead the development and implementation of corporate occupational health and safety policies, programs and services, focus on overseeing our community relational safety program, and ensure provincial compliance and work to continuously improve the safety for VCH staff.
  • Manage the clinical support attendants in the community sites and initiatives such as implementing and managing the community alert app.
  • Liaise with Employee Health team members, HR Advisors, Directors, Managers, Department Heads, physicians and others to provide support, advice and influence decisions regarding regulatory compliance, safety awareness, injury, and violence prevention and related issues.
  • Liase with external contacts including WorkSafe BC, Industry Committees, and Health Care Unions, other health care institutions as well as academic institutions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences discipline, business or education, with a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years' progressive experience in a large multi-union organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-seeking groups, including those who experience intersectional barriers.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to promote and enhance services provided.
  • Uses a comprehensive knowledge of health and safety and human resource theories/practices, legislation as well an understanding of a complex multi-union healthcare environment to identify, develop and implement strategies and initiatives, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
  • Uses a comprehensive knowledge of program management, especially in relation to education and development.
  • Identifies emerging initiatives, trends and industry best practices and ensures full consideration in the development and implementation of service delivery goals and objectives.
  • Uses strong written communication skills in the development of business cases and marketing and promotional materials.
  • Uses creativity and innovation to develop new programs and initiatives that meet and/or exceed service level agreements in the creation of healthy healthcare workplaces for all organizations under the Integrated HR Service.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
