Job Summary

Come work as a Vaccine Leader with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Reporting to the Regional Lead, Long-Term Care, Assisted Living and Supported Housing, the Vaccine Leader is responsible for the ongoing coordination of Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) LTC and AL vaccine implementation and evaluation. Develops and implements strategies to distribute vaccine to key stakeholders and evaluates the ongoing capability of VCH, and the assigned CoC’s to respond efficiently to their vaccine needs.  Provides expertise and advice that influences service delivery at the community of care (CoC) level, including supporting data analysis and identifying trends and opportunities for improvements in service. Key partnerships are with other members of the department as well as Directors, program and site managers, Professional Practice,, Community Physicians and Agencies to coordinate, facilitate, and support the delivery of the VCH LTC and AL vaccination program.  Leads, directs, and provides performance management to designated support staff. The position will monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system, produce data and report on performance, measuring against set indicators.

 

As a Vaccine Leader with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the organization’s vaccine inventory to ensure program needs are met within established standards of practice with particular focus on the individual requirements and needs of each facility.
  • Perform and coordinate quantitative and qualitative research with vaccine providers to determine vaccine uptake and health care provider needs.
  • Make recommendations on findings and prepares reports.
  • Maintain a variety of inventory and statistical records.
  • Develop formal and informal training strategies to ensure that all staff know and understand their role in vaccine management, product integrity, documentation and reporting.
  • Develop communications strategies and procedures for an effective vaccine distribution system.
  • Lead and identify streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process. Assess its efficiency on a regular basis and provides input regarding redesigning the collection methodology as needed.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests for information and analysis by researching and gathering information required, manipulating database fields, preparing spreadsheets, tables, charts, graphs, reports and presentations as required to summarize information.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of public health experience including vaccine program management or emergency management, working in a large health care organization, supplemented by supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Excellent knowledge of current British Columbia immunization programs and vaccine products.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of new developments and trends in vaccine cold chain and inventory management and incorporates into the organization’s best practices accordingly.
  • Effectively utilizes verbal, written and technological communication skills with a variety of audiences to obtain information, provide advice/information, deliver formal and informal educational sessions, and/or write technical reports.
  • Utilizes a variety of software applications to develop databases, conduct analysis, and prepare reports.
  • Fosters collaboration and effective working relationships with stakeholders that promote cooperative goals and contribute to an atmosphere of mutual respect.
  • Knowledge of health care business systems, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of mass immunization emergency response plans.
  • Applies continuous quality improvement strategies, tools, techniques and indicators to identify potential interventions or solutions and effective evaluations of improved processes.
