Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Office Administrator to join the Anaesthesia Unit at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.


As an Office Administrator with VCH, you will:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide secretarial and administrative duties for the Department Head, Division Heads, and staff Anesthesiologists.
  • Maintain the calendar of the Department Head. Schedule, organize and attend committee/division/department meetings, prepare agendas, takes/transcribe minutes, and distribute confidential material.
  • Work with Medical Affairs in credentialing for the department and assist in onboarding new staff, residents, locum, fellows. Maintain and send schedules for staff, fellows, locum, residents, and medical students.
  • Prepare a variety of technical and non-technical material, correspondence, reports and presentations utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Screen, prioritizes and redirect incoming and outgoing mail, phone calls, and emails.
  • Compile and maintain a variety of statistical information for analysis and generates reports. Set up and maintain filing systems, and order supplies.

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.
  • Office Administration Certificate, Medical Terminology, plus three (3) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Ability to type at 60 w.p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively/tactfully both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
