Come work as a Sports Orthopedic Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

VCH is looking for an Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a practice share with two Sea to Sky Orthopaedic surgeons. The new position will share OR and fracture clinic time with two current surgeons at Squamish General Hospital and Whistler Health Care Centre.

 

The successful applicant will:

  • Support a collaborative approach to local patient care in the Sea to Sky Corridor
  • Live in Squamish, Whistler, or Pemberton
  • Be a fully qualified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty interest and experience in treating arthroscopic knee and shoulder athletic injuries
  • Join two incumbent surgeons in a cooperative patient-centered share model
  • Provide proportional ambulatory extremity trauma coverage with surgeon partners
  • Take on a proportional share of the existing resources including operating time and fracture clinic space (3 surgeons using the resources currently covered by 2 surgeons)
  • Have availability to work full time when a partner surgeon is away for holiday and education purposes (approximately 4-6 months per year), including equitable coverage between three surgeons of high-volume seasons including Christmas, Easter/Spring Break, and summer holidays
  • Take on proportional responsibility in running multi-disciplinary clinics in Whistler and Squamish, including administrative management, resident teaching, and overhead costs
  • Interest in building a clinical research program would be an asset
  • Demonstrate desire to focus on practice share optimization & communication

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Desired
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Desired
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
  • Surgical Skills – Mandatory
