Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to join the Home Health City Wide Community Program working out of Pender Community Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Physiotherapist you will:

  • Operate the clinical education and training program for physiotherapy students for an assigned area, in accordance with established policies and procedures and professional standards.
  • Supervise and ensures physiotherapy students receive required supervision, training and orientation; participates in student education and/or evaluations.
  • As required, provide clinical services to patients.

ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS:

 

Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs.

 

THE CLIENT POPULATION:


Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources. Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).
  • Four (4) years' recent related health care experience in the specific area of client focus including two (2) years’ experience teaching students.
  • One (1) year experience in a leadership/supervisory role and completion of a course on adult basic education, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for appointment as a Clinical Instructor at a recognized educational institution.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to the program’s intended population.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Broad knowledge of physical therapy theory and practice within a client centred model of care, including knowledge of self-management skills.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Broad knowledge of the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation with students and an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction and Recovery Oriented
    Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, motivator and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and promote teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to make public/professional presentations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and effectively deal with conflict situations.
  • Ability to deal with and promote change.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
