The chosen surgeon will actively participate in the Division’s clinical, academic, and administrative activities. Scholarly work will focus on the domain of expertise described above (epidemiology, clinical-health services research, or in medical education or in basic sciences), including active participation in clinical research projects of the Division and projects pursued by residents and graduate students associated with UBC. Additionally, the chosen surgeon will have demonstrated ability and interest in teaching on athletic injury / arthroscopic techniques / upper extremity chronic conditions and related topics in the past to meet the Division members’ deliverables.

The successful candidate will join the UBC Academic Department at the rank of Clinical Instructor and will be assessed for promotion to Assistant Professor by the Department’s AARPT Committee (Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee) –To be confirmed with UBC Department Head. At the hospital-level, the successful candidate will join as a Provisional staff level, with the expectation to move to Active staff pending annual review.

Compensation will be fee-for-service for clinical care provided, as billed by the surgeon. Additional compensation for teaching may be available for hours taught as per UBC Faculty of Medicine agreement with Clinical Faculty if criteria are met. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply for academic salary support from various internal and external competitions (e.g. UBC Medicine Faculty Renewal, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research).
