Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Combined Lab & X-ray Technologist (CLXT) Supervisor to lead the team at Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As a Supervisor - Combined Lab & X-Ray Technologist (CLXT) at VCH you will:

  • Be responsible for the supervision and coordination of technical staff activities.
  • Oversee the quality of work performed, participate in recruitment and performance management and coaches and orientate team members.
  • Work within the Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP) standards to ensure quality services to patients/clients.
  • Recommend updates to policies, protocols and procedures, compile financial and statistical reports, resolve routine problems in both the x-ray and lab departments and respond to enquiries.
  • Liaise with other departments to facilitate the provision of effective and appropriate services that meet client needs in an efficient manner.
  • Perform technical duties as required.

ABOUT BELLA BELLA, BC

 

Bella Bella is a beautiful island community off the central coast of British Columbia, 690 km north of Vancouver. It is surrounded by a magical world of channels, inlets and old growth forest. It is home to salmon, orcas, humpbacks, bald eagles and the other denizens of the Pacific Northwest. The climate is mild and the area is a paradise for kayaking, sport fishing, hiking and photography.

 

The Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella has 7 acute beds, 7 long term care beds and a 4-bed emergency department open 24/7, along with Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services. It offers telehealth services as well as speciality clinics. Heiltsuk Hospital also has an Intensive Case Management team for mental health and substance use. There is a medical clinic and a pharmacy located in the hospital. The healthcare team consists of Physicians, RNs, LPNs, PCAs, Laboratory and Radiology Technologists, Combined Lab/X-Ray Technologists, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Assistants, and Support Services Personnel.

 

Heiltsuk Hospital is located on the traditional territories of the Heiltsuk Nation. It is one of the only provincial hospitals located on a reserve in all of Canada.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduated from a recognized Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist/Technician program.

  • Registered with a recognized provincial professional association.

  • Two (2) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated skill in operating related equipment and in performing techniques appropriate to the designated area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in transfusion medicine as appropriate within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with relevant equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, facilitator and team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement procedures and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to area of specialty and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage own learning to meet future challenges within the organization.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
