Status: Regular Part Time (0.42 FTE)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $25.33 per hour


Days off: Rotating

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Service Support Worker to join its team in the Emergency Department at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. As a Service Support Worker at Lions Gate Hospital, you will make your impact by:

  • Assisting in the delivery of client/patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate.
  • Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring equipment is in working order.
  • Providing client/patient care within scope of practice.
  • Transporting clients/patients to and from required areas using stretchers and wheelchairs and assisting nursing and technical staff with the lifting and transferring of clients/patients.
  • Moving a variety of equipment within the unit and maintaining supplies for various carts, rooms and storage areas.
  • Providing support to clients/patients with dressing and/or bathroom care needs and assisting clients/patients with meals.
  • Cleaning equipment and designated areas as required to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients/patients and staff.

Education & Experience

  • Grade 10.
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
