Come work as a Primary Care Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

This is an opportunity for a Family Physician (FP) or Emergency Physician (EP) to work in a part-time or full-time position at the new Richmond East Urgent and Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) that opened in April 2024.

The UPCC provides urgent care for patients with non-life-threatening injuries, illnesses, and conditions that should be addressed within 12 to 24 hours, but do not require the service and expertise of a hospital emergency department (CTAS 3,4,5). The new Richmond East UPCC is a brand new clinic open to patients of all ages. It is located in East Richmond and is easily accessible by transit. Richmond East UPCC is open 365 days a year with hours of operation 0800-2200 Monday to Saturday (including statutory holidays) and 0900-1700 on Sundays.

UPCC provides team-based care with physicians working closely with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and social workers. Diagnostics on site include X-ray, ECG, slit lamp, point of care ultrasound, and point of care urine testing. Specialist support and referrals are available through Richmond Hospital. Applicants should have experience in splinting and casting, suturing, and minor procedures. Patients will be supported to find primary care provider if unattached.

The ideal candidate combines current or recent experience in primary care along with urgent or emergent care, with a clear understanding of the role and importance of foundational primary care and is able to integrate the two. Training in Opioid Agonist Therapy is an asset but not mandatory. Candidates must be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts including weekend and holiday shifts. We actively foster a positive, respectful, and supportive working environment, and we are looking for someone who is positive, energetic, and empathic with strong communication skills and natural attention to detail.

The Richmond East UPCC supports a healthy work-life balance and will focus on the professional development and satisfaction of its multidisciplinary team. The clinic supports learning, skill development and continuous quality improvement.
