Vancouver Coastal Health has multiple opportunities across the region: Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia Hospital, Richmond Hospital, and Lions Gate Hospital.

 

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at Vancouver Acute is searching for a full-time Anesthesiologist to join our team. With over 70 members, we are one of the largest anesthesia departments in Canada and provide all anesthesia care at Vancouver Acute’s two acute care hospitals, Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital.

 

Members of the department are involved in all aspects of adult anesthesia sub-specialty care including perioperative medicine, intraoperative anesthesia care, and critical care and pain management in an academic and quaternary care setting. Vancouver Acute is British Columbia’s provincial referral centre for a large number of surgical programs including; neurosurgery, cardiac surgery (including major aortic reconstruction), thoracic surgery, spine surgery, transplant surgery (liver, lung, kidney and pancreas), complex urological, gynecological and general oncology surgery, complex joint reconstruction and robotic surgery. Vancouver General Hospital is also a level 1 trauma centre.

 

Vancouver Acute is a core academic site of the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia. Richmond hospital is a community academic teaching hospital. Applicants must have an interest or additional training in research and/or medical education. The hospital is over 225 beds, sees over 50,000 emergency room patients per year and runs seven acute operating rooms daily as well as a minor procedure room, a busy rehab clinic and an ambulatory procedure centre. The medical community is collegial and supportive with excellent relationships between departments as well as between community family physicians and specialists. Due to its proximity to the Vancouver airport, the hospital also provides services to visitors traveling to and from YVR. 

Richmond requires an FRCPC certified Anaesthesiologist to support the expansion of daily Operating Room time throughout the week. The hospital maintains obstetric, general surgery, ENT, orthopedic, urologic and vascular elective and emergency programs.

We are looking for interested anesthesiologist to join our group as locum with a long-term view. The locum position may potentially lead to permanent opportunities

 

The Department of Anesthesia at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) is an active clinical and academic affiliated department of 27 collaborative anesthesiologists. The department is seeking a full time anesthesiologist.

 

Lions Gate Hospital is a level 3 Trauma Centre which provides a broad range of 24/7 anesthetic care for neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, obstetrics, gynaecology, plastics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology and limited paediatrics.

 

The Department of Anesthesia provides an acute pain service, weekday pre-anesthetic clinic and supports interventional radiology, palliative care, gastroenterology, cardiology and psychiatry. There is an active regional anesthesia component and academic teaching of medical students, family practice anesthesiology and FRCPC Anesthesiology residents. Candidates need to possess a strong foundation and experience in each of these above areas.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Desired
  • Anesthesia Experience – Desired
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Desired
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Desired
