Chief Project Officer and Executive Director, North Shore/Coast Garibaldi

Job Description

The role:

Reporting to the Executive Facilities Officer, you will be responsible for all developing a Master Plan/Capital Project Plan for projects across the Coastal Community of Care including North Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Powell River, the Sunshine Coast, Bella Bella and Bella Coola. With a scope of responsibility of over $300 million, including the $254.9M Lions Gate Hospital Acute Care Facility redevelopment project, you will ensure VCH initiatives meet deadlines, hold team members accountable and ensure that milestones are achieved.


Key in this role is the development of relationships, and leveraging this for success. The portfolio is diverse and varied, and requires many stakeholders and communities to come together to support both the needed infrastructure renewal, as well as sponsorship and transformation to a new environment. As the new Chief Project Officer and Executive Director, you will work with Coastal Senior Leadership Team, operational leaders, Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, municipalities, and First Nations, among others, to deliver on projects that will ultimately help to deliver the best care possible to our communities.

Who you are:

An experienced leader: bring experience either in healthcare, institutional, government, post-secondary or consulting firm, while having progressively more complex and senior leadership roles in a large, multi-site organization, including significant experience with managing the planning, design, construction and sustainability of major capital projects and master planning. Experience facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups is an asset. 


Strategic: A big picture thinker with the intellectual depth and experience to lead and influence change in a multi‐stakeholder setting. A strategic thinker with the ability to set the vision for the future of a sustainable health services organization and translate that vision into strategies and actions.


Relationship Builder: Able to establish and maintain a highly productive working relationship with various internal and external stakeholders including the operational leaders, LGH Foundation, donors, municipalities, First Nations, residents and families. Will be an active participant, credible, engaging, approachable, open and transparent.


Client/Resident Centred Ethos: Understands that the work is being done for the benefit of clients/residents and their families. Ensure the client/resident perspective is weaved into the process as it relates to design and operational flow.
