Come work as Family Practitioner/General Practitioner with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Seeking full service Family Physician with FP Emergency for full or part time, minimum 0.5FTE, in beautiful Bella Bella. Applicant will most likely be asked to provide a couple of weeks of locum coverage prior to being offered a regular position to ensure a good fit for the physician and the community.

 

Enjoy the convenience of clinic, hospital and pharmacy service under one roof. Our team provides regular clinic, emergency and inpatient care to a primarily First Nations, Heiltsuk Nation community of approximately 1500 people. Bella Bella is a beautiful island community off the central coast of BC, 480 km northwest of Vancouver, surrounded by a magical world of channels, inlets and old growth forest. The hospital, overlooking the ocean, is in the center of this rural and remote community and is a focal point for community life in many ways. Supportive team ethos.

 

Six physicians, one full time, staffing at 3 – 4 physicians per day. Four doctors/patient exam rooms. The ƛúxválásu'ailas Heiltsuk Hospital (kwil-valas-iwaylas Heiltsuk Hospital) has 5 acute beds, 7 continuing care beds and a 4-bed emergency department open 24/7.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Mandatory
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Mandatory
  • Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSCB) – Provisional
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Desired
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners Eligible – Desired
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
  • Emergency – Mandatory
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL) – Mandatory
