Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Care Aide with an Activity Assistant certificate to join the team at the Margaret Fulton Adult Day Care Centre in North Vancouver, BC.  Apply today to join our team!

 

As an Care/Activity Aide at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for providing assistance to clients with personal care and carrying out established recreation programs.
  • Provide input to the development and evaluation of the therapeutic leisure and recreation program to meet specific client needs.
  • Implement and participate in established activities of the therapeutic leisure and recreation program.

ABOUT THE ADULT DAY CARE PROGRAM:

 

The Adult Day Program provides a range of health, personal, social and therapeutic recreation services and activities in a safe and caring environment. It is a supportive community program for seniors and people with varying abilities to help them remain at home and provides respite for caregivers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.

  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Worker/Resident Care Aide program.

  • Successful completion of an Activity Assistant Program from a recognized college, one year recent experience working with a physically and/or mentally frail adult population including recent experience working as resident care aide/home support worker with personal care or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.

  • Valid Class V Driver’s License.

  • Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with the team.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for the rights, confidentiality, dignity and self-esteem of those who are elderly, physically disabled or cognitively impaired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to work independently.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Closing Statement

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.  Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders, as of October 5, 2023, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most-recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
