    Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Nursing Unit Assistant to join the Mental Health Housing Services team at the Richmond Bridge House in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!


    As a Nursing Unit Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

    • Work in a team based environment and perform clerical and receptionist functions in support of the delivery of client care.
    • Place client/family needs above all other concerns.
    • Perform a variety of clerical duties, transcribe and process physicians’ orders, communicate with other departments and hospitals to coordinate client appointments and transportation and arrange client tests and receive results.
    • Greet visitors, answer telephone calls and prioritize requests.
    • Assemble and maintain client charts, arrange for client admissions and discharges and compile various statistics.
    • Type and distribute a variety of technical and non-technical reports and other materials utilizing computer systems and software relevant to the job.
    • Maintain an inventory of stationery supplies and ensures filing systems are current and kept up to date.



    The Richmond Bridge House provides a 10 bed housing service/short stay crisis intervention facility for clients who are experiencing a mental health crisis but do not require an acute psychiatric hospitalization. Clients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team 24 hours a day 7 days a week and can be admitted for a maximum of 14 days. The service provides a safe supportive environment where clients have the opportunity to learn new skills to better manage their illness once they are discharged back into the community. All referrals are screened prior to admission to ensure the facility is able to provide safe care.

    Education & Experience

    • Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Knowledge & Abilities

    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to deal with others effectively.
    • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
    • Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m.
    • Ability to organize work.
    • Ability to operate related equipment.00
    • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
