    Hours: 0700 - 1500, with rotating days off

    As a Care Aide at Vancouver Coastal Health you will make your impact by:

    • Assisting in the delivery of client care. You will do this while working under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate and in cooperation with interdisciplinary team members.
    • Providing personal care to patients while following established care plans. This may include bathing, grooming, dressing, assisting with meals and oral hygiene and performing nursing care duties as applicable.
    • Responding to call bells/alarms.
    • Observing and monitoring clients’ progress, symptoms and behavioural changes and reporting/recording significant observations.
    • Utilizing mechanical aides such as specialty beds, wheelchairs and stretchers to transport clients and provide assistance with lifting and/or transferring of clients following established lifting/safety techniques.
    • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.

    ABOUT SHORNECLIFF VILLAGE CARE HOME:


    Shornecliff Intermediate Care Facility, located in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, offers a wide variety of social and recreational programming to meet the needs and interests of the residents. Scheduled programs are offered 5 days a week and include such things as strength training, music therapy programs and special events. The facility consists of 59 single rooms of which 6 are adjoining. 2 community respite rooms and 2 hospice rooms with a family room.

    The District Municipality of Sechelt is located on the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, followed by a 25-minute drive along Highway 101, also known as the Sunshine Coast Highway. This charming seaside community is known for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for outdoor activities including sightseeing, boating, diving, camping and mountain biking. There are also several municipal parks, plenty of eateries, locally owned shops, boutiques and galleries, and a golf course.     QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    • Grade 10 (including English 10).
    • Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

    Knowledge & Abilities

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
    • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
    • Ability to organize work.
    • Ability to operate related equipment (such as Patient Care Information Systems)
