Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Worker to join its Adult Day Program at the Margaret Fulton Adult Day Centre in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team! As a Program Worker in North Vancouver you will:

• Work in cooperation with multi-disciplinary team members to carry out established recreation and activity programs.
• Organize activities and demonstrate/teach activity techniques.
• Report relevant observations of member progress and behaviours to the Therapist and/or other healthcare staff.
• Provide direction to volunteers, organize equipment and supplies for activities and ensure a safe work environment and maintains an established inventory of supplies.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

The Adult Day Program provides a range of health, personal, social and therapeutic recreation services and activities in a safe and caring environment.  It is a supportive community program for seniors and people with varying abilities to help them remain at home and provides respite for caregivers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• Grade 12.
• Completion of an Activity Assistant recreation program or activity courses that includes assessment and program planning components for a variety of activities plus two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current First Aid and CPR.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of the team.
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Ability to communicate with seniors and frail elderly adults.
• Ability to observe and recognize changes in members.
• Ability to instruct.
• Knowledge of, and ability to do, various arts, crafts, sports and leisure activities.
• Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
