Should there be insufficient qualified candidates available for the above position, VCH may fund post-basic training education.
Eligibility for the Perioperative Specialty Training Program is restricted to applicants with recent acute medical/surgical experience.
Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of 1 year recent acute medical/surgical experience. Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
The post-basic training education program requires full time attendance. Funding will consist of 100% of wages, tuition and books during the training program.
Full time training: begins Jan 27, 2020 to July 10,2020. Orientation day on January 14th, 2020
JOB SUMMARY:
Practices within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) standards of practice for registered nurses and code of ethics. Practices within a patient and family centred care model and the vision and values of the organization. Provides nursing services in an operating room environment as a member of an integrated surgical team performing varied and complex surgical interventions. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other members of the surgical team. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practice approach in nursing practice and patient care. Maintains and advances own clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
