The District Municipality of Sechelt is located on the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. ABOUT SHORNECLIFF VILLAGE CARE HOME:


Shornecliff Intermediate Care Facility, located in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, offers a wide variety of social and recreational programming to meet the needs and interests of the residents. Scheduled programs are offered 5 days a week and include such things as strength training, music therapy programs and special events. The facility consists of 59 single rooms of which 6 are adjoining. 2 community respite rooms and 2 hospice rooms with a family room.


JOB SUMMARY:

Practices within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, performs full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
