RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES

 

Recruitment Incentive Fund 

  • $20,000 one-time payment, prorated for physicians working less than full-time  

Fee Premium (%) 

  • 25.62% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts 

 Flat Fee 

  • $39,703.68 annual flat fee payment paid to any physician that resides and practices in an eligible RSA community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.  

Relocation Funding 

  • $9,000 (based on where you are relocating from –within BC)  
  • $12,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving within Canada outside BC) 
  • $15,000 (based on where you are relocating from –moving from outside of Canada)

Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) 

  • Individual funds - $1,320 in first 2 years, $3,520 in 3rd/4th year, $5,720 over 4 years 

Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA) 

  • R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees, requiring 9 months of residency and practice in an RSA community and at least $75,000 in billing. 

Vacation Leave: Rural Locum assistance through Locums of BC program- up to 43 days

 

Other Benefits: MOCAP on call is estimated in the above total - average 1:3 or 1:4 - 1 or 2 24hour shifts per week. REEF ER Incentive is in addition to the above noted amounts at $400 per 24/hr shift or $200 per 12hr shift. After Hours Premium (AHP) is in addition to the above Housing is at no charge to the physician if requiring VCH housing Clinic appointments 15 - 30 minutes. 10 Acute Beds and a 2 bed+ trauma bay emergency department

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience

  • Licensing:
    • Full or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC)
  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
    • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Emergency medicine experience
  • Professional Affiliation:
    • Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) is desired
