    Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Diagnostic Neurophysiology Technologist with working knowledge of Electroencephalography (EEG) and Electromyography (EMG) to join its team at Richmond Hospital. The EEG department at Richmond Hospital is a small team and you will make a significant impact with your work.     JOB SUMMARY

    Within the context of a client service culture and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, policies, procedures and the vision and values of the organization, position works without general supervision to perform technical functions related to diagnostic neurophysiology by performing duties such as:

    • Conducting various tests including:
      • Electroencephalography (EEG)
      • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
      • Electromyography (EMG)
    • Record measurements, formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff in clinical diagnosis.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    • Graduation with a Diploma of Technology in Electroneurophysiology (British Columbia's Institute of Technology), two years’ recent, related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Successful writing of the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (CBRET) certification exam and the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC) certification exam or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) certification exam.

    Knowledge & Abilities

    • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based Electroneurophysiology practice related to conducting various diagnostic tests including EEG., Nerve Conduction studies, and EMG.
    • Broad knowledge of Electroneurophysiology theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
    • Broad knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with Electroneurophysiology equipment.
    • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
    • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, and facilitator.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach/demonstrate.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
    • Skill in the use of equipment, and in techniques appropriate to the assessment of clients.
    • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
