    Job Title: Clinical Dietitian 2 - Long Term Care
    Work Site: General Administration, Shorncliffe Village Care Home - Sechelt, BC
    Status: Regular Part Time (0.5 FTE)
    Start Date: As soon as possible
    Salary: $34.26 - $42.73 per hour
    Hours: 08:00 - 16:00 Monday, Thursday and alternating Friday

    Within the context of a resident and family centered care model and in accordance with the established standards of professional practice and vision and values of the organization, coordinates the delivery of clinical nutrition services to a resident population with varying physical and cognitive disabilities. Participates as member of the interdisciplinary care team in the development and evaluation of specified nutrition care plans for residents. Applies knowledge, skill and clinical experience to assess, develop and evaluate nutrition care plans and monitor outcomes. Prepares progress notes and reports in Resident’s Health Record. Provides counseling and education to residents that facilitate optimal nutrition intake and support health maintenance. Monitors the resident’s nutritional status and the delivery of nutrition services to ensure nutritious meals are available to the residents in a timely and appropriate manner and recommends improvements in food delivery. Reviews menus and makes recommendations for improvement based on the Canada Food Guide and standards of best practice.


    Education & Experience

    • Current full registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
    • Two years clinical dietetic experience in a community care or long term care setting or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

    Knowledge & Abilities

    • Comprehensive knowledge of Long Term Care and gerontological nutrition.
    • Knowledge of swallowing disorders and related nutritional issues related to disability/degenerative diseases.
    • Demonstrated ability to assess residents with diverse nutrition problems.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think critically.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical direction to non-professional staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of adult learning.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop practice guidelines and protocols.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and coordinate work assignments.
    • Demonstrated experience with utilizing various wordprocessing, spreadsheet and nutrition-related computer applications.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplined team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
